Winterlicious has returned, and from Friday, January 27 to Thursday, February 9 the City of Toronto program continues to help support the local restaurant industry in economic recovery and revival and celebrate Toronto’s diverse culinary scene.

Influenced by Canada’s rich bounty and curated by Toronto’s grand downtown manor house, REIGN serves sophisticated cuisine, prestigious wine, and inspiring moments at the heart of a city landmark.

Reign inside Fairmont Royal York Hotel, was one of more than 220 local restaurants serving delicious prix fixe lunch and dinner menus. We opted for Reign’s three-course dinner, which included starters, main and dessert.

For starters we had the Roasted Mushroom Bisque (Lemon Ricotta, Crispy Leeks, Micro Basil) and the Smoked Trout (Crème Fraîche, Dill, Fennel, Pickled Shallots, Pumpernickel Crisp).

For mains we opted for the 8oz Ontario Striploin (Whipped Yukon Potato, Chimichurri, French Beans, Maitake Mushroom) and the Pan Seared Cape d’Or Salmon (Sunchoke, Broccolini, Baby Kale & Grains).

We also tried their spirit free cocktail, the Temperance Collins (Seedlip, Spent Citrus, Ginger Beer, Mint) as well as the Chardonnay from Textbook Vineyards in Napa Valley, which has become a new favorite of ours.

For dessert we managed to share all three off the menu, which included Blueberry Cheesecake (Digestive Creams, Wild Blueberries, Brandy Snaps), Coffee Crisp (Espresso Crunch, Coffee Bavaroise, Praline Whip Ganache) and Manjari Grue de Cacao (Chocolate Brûlée, Truffle Mousse, Orange Sorbet).

Overall we had an amazing dining experience, the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive, and we can’t wait to go back.
