Kat Harlton

Founder & Editor

Kat got her start in the entertainment business at an early age, first as an actress in high school productions and community theatre as a teenager, and then graduating with a Theatre Arts Diploma from London’s Fanshawe College in 2005. From there she moved to Toronto where she did background work, and eventually landed small roles in a few films and commercials.

In late 2009 she created The Harlton Empire and moved into the music industry, managing and promoting local artists as well as booking and promoting shows at some of Toronto’s best venues. For many years she organized an annual fundraising show in support of the Toronto Daily Bread Foodbank, and was a volunteer for Wavelength Music.

Her work in the music industry led her to becoming a freelance entertainment journalist for various online magazines where she wrote album reviews, conducted interviews and covered the hottest Toronto events and concerts including North by North East and Canadian Music Week.

She’s interviewed stars and luminaries ranging from Terry Fox’s family and Ryan Reynolds to Nirvana’s former manager Danny Goldberg and has covered red carpets for Canada’s Walk of Fame, The David Foster Foundation, The Junos, The Country Music Association of Ontario and more.

Kat currently focuses all her attention on harltonempire.com where she continues to rub shoulders and offer coverage for some of the biggest artists in the music industry, as well as award winning actors, influencers, content creators and major brands. She has been a guest speaker at various events, and continues to maintain a diverse portfolio of business relationships with multiple large agencies, PR companies, festivals and entertainment networks.

harltonempire.com has become an authority on the best of Toronto, and in the past few years has expanded into the lifestyle, travel, romance and luxury markets.
