Rising Canadian country singer-songwriter Mitch Zorn, recently released his catchy new single “Home” on June 14th via 604 Records on all streaming platforms.
Mitch’s storytelling prowess is evident in “Home” where he paints an emotional picture of leaving home for work and the heart longing to be back with the one he loves. Produced by THE RENAISSANCE (Dan Botch and Garrett Ward), the song also beautifully sums up Zorn’s ‘full circle’ musical and personal journey, from leaving his hometown of Nakusp, BC to live across Canada and the US, and returning back ten years later.
Hailing from Nakusp, BC in the West Kootenay region between the Selkirk and Monashee mountains, Mitch Zorn is a true talent, who is primed to make his mark on the Canadian country music scene.
After frequent trips to Nashville, Mitch decided to pursue music while working on an electrician contract on both Canadian and American oil fields. In 2018, he started to gain attention with the release of his single “Humboldt,” followed by a full studio EP, and was later named a wild card finalist for the 2023 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase.
Zorn recently signed with 604 Records and is excited for this next chapter of his music career as he continues to work on his forthcoming album and gears up to perform a variety of shows this summer including Boots & Boats in Lake Country, BC and Sunfest Country Music Festival in Lake Cowichan, BC.

I had the opportunity to chat with Mitch about his musical journey, his new single and what’s next.
Kat: Can you share with us a bit about yourself and your musical journey so far?
Mitch: Yeah! I grew up in a small town in the Kootenays in BC, moved to the states when I was 18 and spent the next 7-8 years down there learning how to write songs, learning the process of recording and just tried to immerse myself as much as I could in country music both in Texas and Tennessee. I got a good mix of Nashville country and Red Dirt country, which is where I think I found a sound that fit my style best.
Kat: Can you share the inspiration behind your new single “Home”?
Mitch: I am an electrician by trade and I lived in Texas for a number of years working in the oil and gas industry there, in that world you work shift work so we did a 4 week on, 2 week off shift and I would spend my 2 weeks off in Nashville. I wrote the song kind of about that journey of having to leave your loved ones and your routine to head back to work.
Kat: What do you hope fans connect with on the track?
Mitch: I know there’s a large community like me having to travel for work so I hope that they can relate to it and find some comfort in that, and just the general listener I think we’ve all been there with someone we love and have had to leave and I hope it can tell that story for those folks.
Kat: What has been a career highlight for you so far?
Mitch: As far as accolades go, I think signing a record deal has always been a staple of success for me and it definitely happened at a time where it very much felt like a reward for a lot of years of hard work and learning how to be a musician. Right now the record deal for sure, but there’s also some songs on the new record that I’m very proud of as a songwriter.
Kat: What have you learned along the way? Do you have any advice you would like to share with other aspiring artists and creators?
Mitch: Music is a hard industry to break into, and it’s a long game if you really want to do it. I think you see the overnight successes of TikTok and how fast that can change someone’s life but I’ve always looked at it as a long journey, and you have to love it because there will be times when it’s hard, it won’t make sense to other people, and you won’t make money. I’ve never really thought of any of that. I think if I have to work to get my music out there then I will because I love writing, melodies and words so much, it’s not something I even think I can give up and you have to have that mentality.
Kat: What else can fans expect from you for the balance of 2024?
Mitch: A few new singles that I’m really excited to get out there, and then subsequently a brand new album hopefully at the end of the year, and everything else in between that. I hope to see new faces at our shows this year!!
