Award-winning alt-pop artist and Winnipeg native, Olivia Lunny just dropped euphoric energy into 2023 with her brand new single “TIMEZONE” which released on all streaming platforms on April 14th via Infinity & Recordings/ Universal Music Canada.
She has accumulated over 30 million streams, earned a Top 40 hit with her early single “I Got You”, and received a Young Canadian Songwriter Award from the SOCAN Foundation. Olivia won the second season of the music competition show, The Launch and has earned Western Canadian Music Awards nominations.
“TIMEZONE” combines pop dance beats, vocal artistry, and lyrical persuasion to create the perfect party-starter hit. AJ Healey (Tiesto, Shaun Frank and Frank Walker), Bjørn Helge Gammelsæter and Markus Vikstvedt produced and brought the upbeat and dancey track to life.
LA-based and Winnipeg native Olivia Lunny has been playing guitar and writing since the age of 12. Since being bitten by the music bug the beats have not stopped. Her combined social media following of over 174K know Olivia to be unapologetic, fearless, and no stranger to artistry. Her hits like “VIBE CHECK” featuring Bhad Bhabie, disco-pop banger “Who Could Say No” and retro-vibed fan favorite “Sad To See You Happy” have taken hold of thousands around the world.

I had the opportunity to chat with Olivia about her new single, her journey so far and what’s next.
Kat: Can you talk about the inspiration behind your new single “TIMEZONE”?
Olivia: This song was inspired by a series of events. Moving to the west coast, The Chaos of long distance relationships, A FaceTime call with my dad while he was in India and we were juggling time zones, and the studio session where the song was born with new friends I had just met from Norway. TIMEZONE is unapologetic, carefree and makes me wanna drive along the ocean with the windows down!
Kat: What do you hope fans take from the new track?
Olivia: I Hope fans can feel uplifted and ready to dance! I’m thrilled with the tempo of this tune and it’s coming out just in time for summer!
Kat: What do you find is the most challenging part of your creative process?
Olivia: Trusting youR gut on the demo vs. the final product. Sometimes all a demo needs is some polishing, other times the demo needs to be entirely reworked. As I continue to write I’m slowly understanding when to differentiate.
Kat: What has been a career highlight for you so far? What have you learned along the way?
Olivia: Going on my first Canadian Tour (Tyler Shaw North Star Tour). Touring is truly a different world and I’m so grateful to have done it with friends and like minded people! My learning from this tour is that things will inevitably go wrong and the only way to conquer issues (with tech, transportation etc) is to adapt and remain positive.
Kat: What can we expect from you for the balance of 2023?
Olivia: new music.. new era.. STAY TUNED! <3
