Ontario country trio New Moon Junction, recently released their incredible new single “Mind Of Its Own” on March 3rd.

“Mind Of Its Own” showcases the trio’s beautiful three-part harmonies in a song about a continued longing for something or someone you know isn’t good for you.

The Ontario-based trio, New Moon Junction is composed of members Barbara Doran, Brad Battle and Tamara Maddalen. From the beginning, the three artists instantly hit it off, sharing an unwavering desire to create music and moments together.

The trio brings spontaneous energy to their live performances and finds a way of connecting with their fans, leaving them wanting more.

New Moon Junction has had an amazing creative team of collaborators helping to bring their songs to life, including multi-Platinum award-winning producer Jeff Dalziel. The trio’s harmonic, distinct and unforgettable voices can also be heard in their first three single releases, “Real Good Kinda Thing,” “The Other Side of Goodbye” and “Don’t”

Having just signed a partnership with RÊVE MUSIC at the tail end of 2022, New Moon Junction is ready to have a break-thru year as they prepare to release more new music this year for fans to enjoy.

I had the opportunity to chat with New Moon Junction (listed as NMJ below) about their new single, what they’ve learned along the way, and what’s next.

Kat: Can you talk about the inspiration behind your new single “Mind Of Its Own”?

NMJ: As individuals we all have had a love for something or someone that we know just isn’t good for us.  Sometimes that connection can be deeper than we understand and pushes us towards making decisions that defy all sense and logic.  Whether it’s unhealthy patterns or a relationship that’s destined to fail, the heart wants what it wants!

Kat: What do you hope fans take from the new single?

NMJ: That the heart is fragile and sometimes misguided and all of us sooner or later succumb to that weakness, that vulnerability and longing is both beautiful and relatable and something we’ve all experienced independently as members of New Moon Junction.

Kat: What do you find is the most challenging part of your creative process?

NMJ: For the group it’s been the physical distance between us. We all live in different parts of Southern Ontario and to be able to carve time to write honest music together and be our best creative selves requires us to be together in the same location and making that happen is tricky.  When you are a solo artist you can write anytime, our process requires planning, scheduling and travelling.

Kat: What has been a career highlight for you so far? What have you learned along the way?

NMJ: Putting this trio together and feeling and experiencing the buzz and excitement that we have received from fans and supporters has been amazing and unlike anything we have experienced in our solo careers.

Kat: What can we expect from you for the balance of 2023?

NMJ: As New Moon Junction we share an unwavering desire to create music and moments and that continues to be what our heart wants as individual artists and as a trio. We have partnered with RÊVE MUSIC at the end of 2022 and are poised to have a break-through year in 2023 with new music, loads of performance opportunities and PR events to continue to build on our fan base and connect with our audience!
