A couple weekends ago we headed to one of our favorite places in the city, the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. The historic Toronto hotel has created a flower filled patio oasis to bring their dishes and drinks from the Clockwork lobby bar outside. The most popular slot is by far brunch, however they also offer starters, mains, sandwiches, and desserts.

We went for a late Sunday seafood lunch, and had the Maritime Lobster Rolls (Mayo, Chives, Buttered Brioche Rolls) and the Fogo Island Shrimp Ceviche (Pickled Serrano Chili, Avocado, Smoked Lime Salt Corn Chips).

The brunch menu features a frozen mimosa (which we’re dying to have!) but for lunch we decided on the Blush Sangria (Rosé, Pisco, Cointreau, Peach, Strawberry, Basil, White Cranberry, Soda) and the the spirit free Papaya Mule (Seedlip, Papaya, Ginger Beer, Mint).

For dessert we had the Local Summer Fruits Sorbet with Cookies and the Butter Tart Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. The Clockwork staff also treated us to some Earthquake Cookies with Chili Spiced Ganache.

The staff did mention that the patio will only be open for as long as the weather is nice, so we suggest making a reservation asap.

Covid-19:

We also wanted to give a very special thankyou to the Clockwork staff. This was our first dining experience since the Covid-19 pandemic began, and they made us feel very safe.

For those wondering, our expereince included making reservations, having a temperture check before entering the patio or any part of the hotel, and they also kept a list of guests. The staff all wore masks, the patio was socially distanced, and at no point did I ever feel unsafe.

We can’t wait to go back!
