Fall is finally here and as the colder weather creeps in, we’re feeling inspired to host an autumn ‘ladies night in’. If you’re thinking of hosting your girlfriends, below are some ideas and inspiration to help get you started.
Food: Obviously everything pumpkin spice can be added to this section, but you should also consider seasonal food like apples (apple turnovers!), toasted walnuts, dark chocolate, chili, loaded potatoes, roasted corn, smores and anything with cinnamon, brown sugar, salted caramel or maple.
Drinks: Anything warm! Think cider, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea. During this time of year you can often find specialty (including pumpkin flavored) options for all of the above. If you’re looking for something more ‘adult’ there are plenty of seasonal wines, Jamie Oliver has a great list to get you started here.
Decor: It should be pretty easy to find inspiration with a quick scroll through Pinterest or Instagram (use #FallDecor, I’m addicted!) and for online shopping, places like Target, Walmart and Wayfair have whole sections dedicated to the theme. Even if you don’t have (or want) decor specific to fall, you can make your place extra cozy by using what you already have, think wooden crates, step ladders, baskets, and vintage birdcages. Amp up the cozy factor with additional throws and pillows, scented candles and seasonal flowers.
Entertainment: What’s better for a ladies night in than a rom-com or a ‘fall themed’ movie? Hallmark Channel has pretty much cornered this and have an extensive list of fall themed movies, with new ones each year, click here for suggestions. For those with services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Crave, Hulu etc there are plenty of these movies there as well. If Hallmark isn’t your thing, think about movies that get you in the ‘autumn spirit’, for me these include When Harry Met Sally, Good Will Hunting, Stepmom, or October Sky. Some TV shows include Friday Night Lights (nothing says fall like Football!) The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, and Gilmore Girls. You could also just watch the ‘fall’ episodes of your favorite TV shows. Additional ideas could include board games, craft making or cooking together.
We hope you love what we recommend! Just so you know, The Harlton Empire may collect a small share of sales from the links on this page.
