Indoor Toronto Activities For Those Who Hate Winter

Toronto winters are generally filled with freezing rain, snow and bitterly cold wind, so we’ve put together a list of our favorite indoor activities for those who hate winter and need a break.

For The Artist: Visit a museum or art gallery. Toronto is home to the Art Gallery Of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Aga Khan Museum, Museum Of Contemporary Art, Gardiner Museum and multiple popups!

For The Nature Lover: Reconnect with your love for nature and animals by visiting Allan Gardens, Centennial Park Conservatory, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada or the Toronto Zoo.

For The History Buff: Toronto has a deep, interesting, and innovative history, so why not take a tour! Some favorite spots include the Spadina House and Museum, Casa Loma, Campbell House, Mackenzie House and the Gibson House Museum.

For The Film & Theatre Lover: Check out a performance at one of Toronto’s many historic theatres like The Princess Of Wales Theatre or The Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre. You can also catch a groundbreaking film at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, or head over to the Cinesphere at Ontario Place.

For The Fashionista: Update your style with a trip to the Bata Shoe Museum, The Eaton Centre, Yorkdale Mall, or hit up one of the many popups or fashion shows during Toronto Fashion Week.

For The Sports Obsessed: If sports is more your thing, Toronto is home to Blue Jays Winterfest and the legendary Hockey Hall Of Fame. We also have an insane amount of game venues and bars that include axe throwing, bocce ball, ping pong, darts, pool, video games, arcade games, board game cafes and more!

For The Music Lover: Ā This one should be pretty easy, since there are shows happening every night, all night. Some of our favorite venues include The legendary Horseshoe Tavern, The Rivoli, Lee’s Palace and The Axis Club. Also be sure to check out websites for The Drake and The Gladstone Hotel who host intimate talks and parties with some of your favorite artists.

For The Foodie: Toronto loves craft beer and there are multiple breweries you can tour. Some of our favorites include the Steamwhistle Tour, and The Amsterdam Brewery. You can also check out multiple food events like Winterlicious or the Toronto Tea Festival. Many places also serve afternoon tea including Fairmont Royal York, The Windsor Arms, Shangri-La Hotel and more!
