5 Holiday Favorites With

We caught up with Jenna who shared her favorite holiday memory, the best gift she received as a kid and her favorite holiday treat.

Kat: Do you have a favorite holiday or Christmas memory?

Jenna: As I’m sure a lot of people feel this way, Christmas has always been family oriented for me. Looking back at all the Christmas’ the memory I cherish the most is having spent every year gathering at my grandparents house. My aunts and cousins would all come over and we’d spend the entire day together laughing and catching up, anticipating the big Christmas feast.

Kat: Favorite holiday movie?

Jenna: I have many, however if I had to choose, my favourite holiday movie is The Holiday staring Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black. I remember renting this movie from Blockbuster when I was a teenager and watching it over and over again! Kate Winslet being one of my favourite actresses, it definitely became a holiday classic in my eyes.

Kat: What was your favorite gift you received as a kid?

Jenna: I’ve definitely been blessed enough to receive some amazing presents from my family over the years, however one definitely stands out! Although I wasn’t a ‘kid’, I received my favourite gift the Christmas of 2016. Leading up to Christmas, my Mom went on to say a few times that we would be keeping it ‘light’ this Christmas, meaning we wouldn’t be getting a lot of gifts that year. Being a young adult, I understood the financial pressures that Christmas caused. On Christmas Day the presents under the tree were few, but I was honestly happy just to be surrounded by my family. After opening our small gifts like chocolates, candy and socks my Mom said she had one more gift for my brother and I. She handed us both envelopes. When we opened them, inside were tickets to Jamaica! Not only did she surprise us with a trip to visit our extended family in Jamaica, she excluded to tell us until the very last minute that we were leaving the next day! Lets just say it was an amazing surprise and a gift I’ll never forget!

Kat: Favorite holiday song?

Jenna: In my household we bring out the Christmas music December 1st and play it all month long. My favourite holiday song is “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Ella Fitzgerald. Her rendition of the song is so smooth, from her beautiful vocal texture, to the jazz production. I could listen to that song a thousand times over!

Kat: Favorite holiday treat?

Jenna: The holiday season is filled with baked goods, but my Nan would make these amazing pecan squares every Christmas and only at Christmas. You were lucky if you got a couple before they were all gone! Over time they definitely became a treat I looked forward to having every year.
