via their press release:

There’s a reason, beyond their dazzling musicianship and wildly entertaining live shows, that The East Pointers have connected with audiences right across the globe, making new, original roots music the hippest, most vibrant thing going.

The reason? The East Pointers – fiddler/singer Tim Chaisson, banjoist Koady Chaisson and guitarist Jake Charron – write about real life, sketching out its joys and sorrows in vivid strokes. That palpable authenticity makes their instrumental tunes practically cartwheel and infuses their lyric-driven songs with poignancy.

5 Holiday Favorites With(2)

Koady from The East Pointers shares his favorite holiday memory, the Christmas treats the band can’t live without and his favorite holiday album.

Kat: Do you have a favorite holiday or Christmas memory?
Koady: As kids we always got together on Boxing Day for a big potluck supper and family skate. Tim and I come from a pretty massive family (50+ first cousins) so you can imagine that the games of shinny were pretty intense and often ended in tears for a few!

Kat: Favorite holiday movie?
Koady: Favourite holiday movie. Jeepers, that’s a tough one. I’m torn between ‘It’s a Beautiful Life’ and ‘Home Alone’. Let’s keep it light and go with ‘Home Alone’. Kevin McCallister is a bad ass!

Kat: What was your favorite gift you received as a kid?
Koady: Been very fortunate over the years but I think the best gift ever was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pizza shooter that I got when I was 8 or 9. I don’t think that a gift like that would be allowed these days. I near put my neighbours eye out with a direct hit!

Kat: Favorite holiday song?
Koady: Anything from the Alabama Christmas album. I’m trying to remember the names of some of my favourite tunes off of it but I’m drawing blanks on titles. Good old Spotify will get you where you want to be.

Kat: Favorite holiday treat?
Koady: Mulled wine, says Jake! Bread pudding for Koady. Rum and eggnog (vg) for Tim!
