Tim, from Tim & The Glory Boys shares his favorite holiday memory, the Christmas movie his family can’t live without, and his favorite holiday treat.
Kat: Do you have a favorite holiday or Christmas memory?
Tim: My earliest childhood memories are from Alberta. A Christmas on the ranch kinda vibe. A cut down your own tree from the backyard – carols around the fireplace kinda thing. I wish to God I could offer the same experience to my kids, but alas, it’s a big city, Costco pre-lit-tree, plastic reindeer, k-pop Christmas instead.
Kat: Favorite holiday movie?
Tim: Elf. Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel together are magic. Christmas isn’t real in the Neufeld house until this movie has been watched. My kids love it too. Also, Buddy telling ‘mall santa’ that he “sits on a throne of lies” might just be the best Christmas movie line of all time.
Kat: What was your favorite gift you received as a kid?
Tim: 1987, only 3 items made my Christmas wish list. I needed Reebok’s, Levi’s, and a Swatch. My poor parents had to put up with me campaigning for it in August that year. I ended up receiving all 3 but lost the Swatch the day I got it. It still hurts to think about.
Kat: Favourite holiday song?
Tim: Anything sung by Frank Sinatra gets a pass. But honourable mention also needs to go Kacey Musgraves for ‘A Very Kacey Christmas’. It’s modern, it’s throwback-y, every song is wonderful.
Kat: Favorite holiday treat?
Tim: Toffifee. My kryptonite. Also, Granville Island Winter Ale… It’s basically chocolate beer, and it’s Vancouver local!
