Created by AGO Head Mixologist Stephen Gaessler who has been with the AGO since 2008, the ‘Anthropocene‘ cocktails are inspired by some of the exhibit’s most renowned work. Anthropocene dramatically illustrates how we, individually and collectively, are leaving a human signature on our world.
World-renowned photographer Edward Burtynsky and multiple award-winning filmmakers Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas de Pencier have created a powerful series of new photographs, including large-scale murals augmented by film extensions, film installations and augmented reality (AR) installations, that take us to places we are deeply connected to – but normally never see.
Gaessler was kind enough to walk us through the design and implementation of these Anthropocene inspired cocktails and allowed us to sample some of the menu items below.
Zoborodo Sour
A smooth and silky adventure blending grass-infused vodka, sunflower essence, hibiscus, pineapple and spice. Zubrówka vodka, Zoborodo syrup, lime, sunflower oil, egg white
Kenyan Dream
A comforting concoction of coconut milk imbued with a floral African spice, some heat and nutmeg. Could very easily be enjoyed after dinner. Courvoisier V.S., Bacardi coconut rum, coconut milk, Baharat syrup, freshly grated nutmeg, Bad Dog Fire & Damnation bitters.
Big Lonely Spruce (not pictured)
