About The Movie:

Holly Kuhn (D’Orsay) is on her annual mission of finding a majestic specimen for The National Tree. While searching for the perfect Christmas fir for the Washington, D.C. Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony, Holly receives a letter from a boy detailing why his town boasts the most beautiful evergreen. Holly travels to the boy’s quaint New England town, where she meets his handsome uncle, Sam McCary (Blucas). Sam owns the land from which it grows and is a protective steward. It holds such deep meaning for Sam that he’s not about to let it be chopped down even for such an honor. Still, Holly finds herself falling for Sam, and they discover the magic that this perfect tree can bring, just in time for the holidays.

We had the chance to catch up with star Brooke D’Orsay about her role, her favorite holiday movie, and the best kind of Christmas tree.

Kat: Was there anything about your role that was particularly challenging?
BD: Playing Holly was so much fun.The challenging part was wearing full winter clothes during the summer! Most days were a cinch, but there were times it was hot enough inside my coat to cook a turkey.

Kat: What was your favorite scene to shoot and why? (without giving away spoilers)
BD: My favorite scene to shoot was the one with the Yorkshire terrier. I had a little yorkie when I was growing up, so that specific breed always makes my heart melt. I couldn’t wait to get to work and play with her.

Kat: What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
BD: Christmas Story! Although I have to turn away when he licks the pole.

Kat: Do you or your family have any special holiday traditions?
BD: My family gets together for a big pot luck party where we sing (badly), enjoy each other’s company, and wait for Santa to show up and surprise the kids. My aunt also started a tradition about 20 years ago where, instead of giving gifts to each other, we choose a family in need and give gifts to them.

Kat: Real or fake Christmas tree? (and are you as excited about Christmas trees in real life, as your character?)
BD: I actually use a fake tree, but nothing beats the smell and feeling of a real tree. I just don’t like throwing the poor guy on the side of the road when Christmas is over. If a Christmas marching band could swoop in and collect all the trees at the end of the season I’d be all over it!

Miss Christmas” premieres on Sunday, November 5th at 8/7c
