This past Monday we were fortunate enough to see Juno Award-winning artist, Sean Jones bring back his popular Soul In The City series to Casa Loma for the 3rd year in a row.  Different to previous years, we were treated to a table in the glass pavilion giving us a new way to experience and appreciate the event. We dined on the Portobello sliders and fries which when paired with chilled glass of white wine makes for the perfect summer snack.

In honor of Canada’s 150th birthday, Jones performed amazing renditions of These Eyes” (a favorite of mine) and “Heart Of Gold“. He also performed timeless classics “Midnight Train To Georgia” and “The Weight“.

Special guests for the evening included George Nozuka who did a beautiful cover of Bruno MarsMarry You“, Juno nominated singer-songwriter Melanie Durrant (who managed to get the entire place to sing Happy Birthday to her) Gemini nominated actress/singer Alana Bridgewater, who touched everyone’s soul with her version of “Stormy Weather” and Juno Award winner Kellylee Evans whose jazz/soul vocals drifted across the garden all the way up to the balcony.

Jones mentioned they were extending the event in order to do a special version for the Toronto International Film Festival, so there’s still time if you’ve missed out!

Special thanks to Casa Loma and The Liberty Entertainment Group for having us.
