Inspired by old world tradition similar to European markets, the Toronto Christmas Market in the Historic Distillery District was full of wonder and magic this past Friday, November 18th – the market’s opening night, with over 100 local vendors and shops showcasing their best crafts, food and gifts. Perfect for a family outing, the market also includes numerous kinds of entertainment in the form of buskers, carolers, Santa’s house, a Ferris wheel and merry-go-round.
As one of Toronto’s favourite destinations during the holidays, the crowd happily wandered through the cobblestoned streets under stringed lights while enjoying free treats, beer, and one of Toronto’s largest Christmas trees, perfect for Instagram photo ops.
There was a lot to take in, and we had so much fun. I can’t imagine how pretty the market must look covered in snow. It’s certainly a place that I’d recommend visiting multiple times if possible.
For those interested in attending, The Toronto Christmas Market will be charging a $6.00 admission fee on weekends (includes HST) starting at 5pm on Fridays. Admission is free of charge on weekdays.
