Actress Charlot Daysh is starring in the new thriller film Cry of Silence which made its premiere May 1st on Hollywood Suite/Prime Video.
In a community terrorized by a brutal serial killer, a young married couple, Frank and Maggie, settle into their new life together, oblivious to the growing number of murders of young women in the area. Deeply in love, the pair share a warm and unique relationship filled with humor and affection.
Frank becomes preoccupied with work keeping him at the office night and day, and is unaware of his beautiful new wife’s mounting problems and fears, as she is being stalked by a strange man. Suddenly, Maggie, played by Charlot, disappears. There’s no trace of her, and no sign of a struggle.
I had the opportunity to chat with Charlot about her role, what fans can expect and more.
Kat: You star as Maggie in the new thriller film Cry of Silence, which made its premiere on May 1st on Hollywood Suite/Prime Video. How did you prepare for your role? Did you find any similarities between yourself and your character?
Charlot: In preparing for my role as Maggie, I began by immersing myself in the script to really understand Maggie’s emotional journey and her pivotal moments. I worked with Allen, the director, to establish a backstory for her, to help me grasp the complexities of her personality and motivations. I also did stunt and fight training to be able to portray Maggie’s demanding physical experiences. Finding parallels between myself and Maggie was instrumental in bringing authenticity to the role. We share a few core traits, including ambition, a strong sense of family, and resilience.
Kat: What can fans expect from your character?
Charlot: They can expect Maggie to take them on an emotional rollercoaster. I hope viewers will be drawn into Margaret’s journey, empathizing with her struggles and rooting for her as she fights for her life and her family. “Cry of Silence” delves into the theme of overcoming adversity, showcasing not only individual resilience but also the power of a community uniting. I ultimately hope that this film leaves viewers not only entertained and inspired but also reflective, encouraging them to consider their own sources of strength and resilience.
Kat: Was there anything about your role that was particularly challenging?
Charlot: Portraying Maggie in such a dark and intense storyline required me to delve into some challenging emotional territories. I had to explore and channel darker, more vulnerable aspects of myself. This, along with the fight and stunt training, were the most challenging parts!
Kat: What were some of your favorite scenes to shoot and why?
Charlot: I love children, so I naturally loved shooting the scenes that involved my on-screen daughter, Devynn Sewell, in the role as Katie. Children can bring such a beautiful lightness and energy to the set. On the other hand, I also find the more dramatic fight and stunt scenes exhilarating!
Kat: Is there a type of character that you’d like to portray that you haven’t had the chance to yet?
Charlot: I would love to play a fantasy or sci-fi character!
Kat: Do you have anything else planned that you can share?
Charlot: I’m involved in a few exciting projects including Trickle and Flow, a crime drama series, and Noose, a period-piece drama series that’s currently in development. Additionally, I have started exploring different aspects of filmmaking and am working on developing a few of my own projects!
