In addition to the upcoming tour dates, EVE UNDER FIRE also recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of their critically acclaimed 2022 debut album LOVE, DRUGS & MISERY by releasing a deluxe edition of the album via Better Noise Music. It includes 10 bonus tracks consisting of remixes by Noise Machine, a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” and the passionate single Unstoppable, which features country rocker Cory Marks and is currently making its way up the rock radio charts.

Lauded as one of SIRIUS XM’s 2023 Ones To Watch,” EVA UNDER FIRE is an emerging Detroit-based rock band that has taken the music scene by storm and built an enthusiastic fanbase. The band’s impact on the music charts further solidified their rising star status as their powerful single “Blow,” went Top 10 at Active Rock Radio and #45 on the 2022 Mediabase Year End Chart.

Fronted by Amanda “Eva Marie” Lyberg whose powerhouse vocals captivate audiences, the band’s lineup also includes guitarists, Rob Lyberg and Chris Slapnik, bassist Ed Gawlik, and drummer Dave Miller II. Together, the band blends a hybrid of metal, pop and classic rock to create a sound that is uniquely their own.

I had the opportunity to chat with Amanda “Eva Marie” Lyberg, about the band’s musical journey so far, what fans can expect from their upcoming tour stops and more.

Kat: Can you tell us a bit about the band and your music journey so far?

Eva Marie: We’re all from the same Metro Detroit bar scene and have played together in different projects since we were kids. Now having the opportunity to tour full time and release our music professionally, it feels like we unlocked a whole new level. We’re still a passionate garage band, but the stages we step on are bigger than we ever dreamed.

Kat: Can you talk about the new deluxe edition of your acclaimed debut album LOVE, DRUGS & MISERY, and what you hope fans take from the album?

Eva Marie: This is everything we turned it into and I love that each track is getting to see the light of day. I fall in love with everything we work on so it’s hard when some songs “don’t make the album”. The deluxe version gave us room to show our fans everything 🫶

Kat: You are currently on tour with British rock staple BUSH, including three Canadian stops in Peterborough, Hamilton and Vancouver. How does it feel to be a part of this tour?

Eva Marie: Surreal. One of the first songs Ed and Chris learned together was a Bush song. Now we’re opening their tour?! It’s an incredible opportunity.

Kat: What do you find is the most challenging part of your creative process?

Eva Marie: I try to separate the writing process from the pressure of commercial success but it doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes being too mindful about a song’s potential is a hindrance. You can step into the booth and try to write a hit single but the weight of that responsibility won’t help you achieve your goal. You have to feel it. Believe it. And let other opinions matter less than your own.

Kat: What has been a career highlight for you so far? What have you learned along the way

Eva Marie: One of many highlights that stands out to me is being invited to stage to sing with Halestorm completely unplanned. You meet so many cool people when you’re out here on the road. Many musicians I’ve listened to and been a fan of for years are now friends of mine. It’s really special. I guess that I’ve learned that we are all human and even when the road gets rough, there are others who understand, who will be supportive and will lift you up. Sometimes, I get to return that favour too.

Kat: What else can fans expect from the band for the balance of 2023?

Eva Marie: High energy shows to close out the year, a really cool yellow vinyl, and starting in 2024 we’re writing you album 2. 👏
