London, ON-based rising rock act Texas King are bringing their high energy live show to 20 markets across Canada this spring to support their new single “Whatever You Break”.

All tour dates can be found here.

Texas King released the first single from their forthcoming  EP “Whatever You Break” last month via Known Accomplice / Cadence Music Group.  A driving power ballad, “Whatever You Break” continues to encapsulate the warmth and honesty that is signature to the band’s alt-rock outpourings. The song was produced by Brian Moncarz (Yukon Blonde, Moneen, OLP) and recorded at The Tragically Hip’s legendary Bathouse Studio just outside of Kingston, Ontario.

The soundtrack to your favourite memories, Texas King have put 250,000 miles into their van over the past decade – touring all over North America alongside acts like Big Wreck, Last Dinosaurs, and The Glorious Sons – and there’s thousands more miles to go. Since 2013, they’ve been cutting their teeth on the road and in the studio, so far releasing one album and two EPs that capture the show- stopping passion they’ve brought to stages that include Vancouver’s Ambleside Festival, Ontario’s ParkJam and Hillside Festivals, and Québec’s Festival D’été.

I had the opportunity to chat with Texas King about their new single, their journey so far and what’s next.

Kat: Can you tell us a bit about Texas King and your music journey so far?

Texas King: We are a Rock Band from London,ON. We’ve toured North America and love playing live. We’ve released an album called Circles and an EP called Changes and are about to release some of the best music we’ve written and recorded to date.

Kat: You recently released your new single “Whatever You Break” last month. Can you share the inspiration behind it and what you hope fans take from the track?

Texas King: It’s a song inspired by needing to make tough choices about who you keep around you in your life. Sometimes you’ve got to let people go. This song is about that reality and those choices that feel almost impossible to make.

Kat: You are going to be bringing your high energy live shows to 20 markets across Canada this spring. How does it feel to be returning to the stage to perform your new music?

Texas King: It’s amazing to be heading back out! We are a band that loves to tour and we are SO Excited to play the new tunes! We wanna see everybody out too, singing along, having a party with us. That’s what we love about touring and playing live. Seeing everyone, good times and the memories you relive at home after.

Kat: What do you find is the most challenging part of your creative process?

Texas King: I find the hardest part for me is setting aside the time to be creative. There’s a list of a thousand other things I have to do and I find it hard to prioritize the art sometimes if I’m being honest.

Kat: What has been a career highlight for you so far? What have you learned along the way?

Texas King: Touring 52 dates across North America coast to coast, across both countries with my brothers, playing to like 500 new people who were loving the sets each night! It was amazing. You learn that you need to sleep when it’s time to sleep. You learn that the best way to get along well in this world is to be as kind and chill as possible (no one likes an ass hole ) and to just enjoy every moment and not take it for granted cause you never know when the run will be over ! That’s the truth!

Kat: What can fans expect from Texas King for the balance of 2023?

Texas King: Our next release around July, our next radio single (it’s actually the title track from our upcoming release). We’ll have a video for that one too. Summer festivals, BBQs, more touring and starting to record a FULL LENGTH RECORD BABY YEA!
