Sadie Laflamme-Snow stars in the new Hallmark Channel Original Series The Way Home which airs in Canada, Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on W Network and STACKTV and at 9PM ET/PT on Hallmark Channel in the U.S.
The Way Home is a family drama following the lives of three generations of women – Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh), her teen daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) and Kat’s mother Del (Andie MacDowell), who are all strong, willful and independent.
More than 20 years prior, life changing events prompted Kat to move away from her small, Canadian farm town of Port Haven and she remains estranged from Del to this day. Alice has never met her grandmother and is unaware of the reasons for their fractured family. As the three generations of women slowly work on finding their footing as a family, they embark on an enlightening – and surprising – journey none of them could have imagined as they learn how to find their way back to each other.

I had the opportunity to chat with Sadie about her role, what she hopes the audience connects with and what’s next.
Kat: You’re in an exciting new Hallmark Channel Original Series “The Way Home”, how did you prepare for the role? Did you find any similarities between yourself and your character Alice?
Sadie: I have felt a connection to Alice ever since the first audition. Getting to see her extremely bratty, angry, impulsive side and her vulnerable, loving and creative side from the first few audition scenes I was hooked. We’re one in the same Alice and I. I feel like when I am being Alice I am just revealing parts of myself, whether those are the endearing parts or the ugly parts – it’s all in there. One of the big things I had to do to prepare was relearn how to play guitar for the role which was a lot of fun. That’s another thing Alice and I have in common, we love music. Singing was my first love and to get to sing and play in this show has been a huge gift.
Kat: Was there anything about your role that was particularly challenging?
Sadie: In the show there is a time-traveling pond that takes Alice back in time to meet her family before their world is shattered by the disappearance of her mom’s brother Jacob and the death of Colton. So not only does that mean keeping track of multiple timelines but also means jumping in a pond all season long. Being a character that exists in both timelines offers the exciting challenge of keeping track of a million little time travel details and secrets. Evan Williams, who plays Elliot in the show, is my go-to person to talk all things time travel both in the show and real life. He and Elliot really have the brain for that kind of thing and both Alice and I need all the support we can get!
Kat: What were some of your favorite scenes to shoot and why?
Sadie: One of my favorite memories from filming was just stepping out of the car at the farm in the scene where Alice and Kat are arriving at Del’s place. It is the first time Del and Kat have seen each other in 20 years and the first time Alice has ever met her grandmother. I just remember getting out of the car and looking at Andie Macdowell and Chyler Leigh and thinking “Wow this is my family for the next few months. I am so lucky.” It is always thrilling to act opposite both Andie and Chyler. We really do feel like a family and they also push me as an actor in every scene we have together.
Kat: You’ve only recently begun auditioning, but have already booked multiple projects, including a starring role in the upcoming season of the AMC Shudder series “Slasher”, what has this expereince been like for you? Have you learned anything along the way?
Sadie: Yes!! This is all relatively new to me and I’ve learned a ton. Mainly I’ve just learned that how things are made really shapes the product itself. While The Way Home and Slasher couldn’t be more different in theme they were both made with so much love and excitement for the project and I think it really shows. While I can’t give any details about Slasher V I will say that I had the best time filming it. Slasher is a well oiled machine and a beloved series for a good reason. The team welcomed me with open arms and we created something you do not want to miss – see you on April 6th!
Kat: What can we expect from you for the rest of 2023?
Sadie: Well you can expect an absolutely mind blowing rest of a season of The Way Home. With every new script the cast was continuously shocked and so I’m beyond excited to share the rest of the story with the world. Slasher is coming soon, and I’ve got a really exciting animated series coming out this year so it will be a year of releases! And fingers crossed for a season 2 announcement in 2023 as well!
