The holiday season is finally here, and we decided to celebrate with an indulgent festive themed afternoon tea under the rosy glow of the clock at Fairmont Royal York.
Opening in 1929, the hotel retains many of it’s original features and has played host to royal guests, heads of state, celebrities, superstars of sport, and millions of others. Featuring 28 floors, it is considered one of Canada’s grand railway hotels.

Our afternoon tea experience included their buttery housemade scones, savoury sandwiches and an assortment of sweets. It also included festive versions of their LOT 35 Fairmont curated teas. We enjoyed the Vienna Eggnog which had rum notes with a sweet caramel and light cinnamon ginger finish, and Santa’s Milk & Cookies, reminiscent of dipping an English biscuit into a warm glass of milk.

For those with a sweet tooth, the pastries were very holiday themed in both presentation and taste. We loved the chocolate orange reindeer (manjari mousse, fudge brownie), the candy cane macaron (peppermint buttercream) and the Turtles chocolate sandwich cookie (salted caramel, candied pecans). We added to ourexperience with a glass of prosecco and a spirit-free festive inspired cocktail.
