Russian born, Los Angeles based pop soul artist Cooper Phillip succeeds in capturing the undivided attention of listeners across the globe. With her intense drive, soaring vocals and passionate songwriting, Phillip is elevating herself to the top of her genre.

We had the opportunity to chat with her about her latest single “Perfectly Original“, what she hopes fans take from the track and the most challenging part of her creative process.

Kat: Can you talk about the inspiration behind your latest single “Perfectly Original”?

Cooper: I was raised listening to Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. I think this song comes from memories of the era of Diva music. Conceptually, it’s continuing the topic of all of my songs – self-love, acceptance, and uniqueness.

Kat: What do you hope fans take from the track?

Cooper: I hope to inspire my fans to embrace the person inside of them. There is no need to look for the answers outside, I believe they live inside of us. As long as we understand and appreciate the value of ourselves, we can be the best version of ourselves every single day.

Kat: What do you find is the most challenging part of your creative process?

Cooper: I think coming up with relatable concepts. Every artist I believe should have an understanding of their audience. Art is pure. But it is a responsibility for every artist to connect. We create not only for our own enjoyment. We create for people.

Kat: What has been a career highlight for you so far? What have you learned along the way?

Cooper: I learned that I have to be very honest, very open and vulnerable. Also, I realized that I touch my audience the most by telling my true story through my music. My latest release received 4.5 million views and I appeared on nation television twice singing and giving interviews.

Kat: What’s next?

Cooper: Heading to Europe to teach Slavic nations to sing better 😉 Also doing shows in May and June in European cities. So excited 😁
