UPtv recently released their list of new movies for the 2018 holiday season, which includes seven U.S. premiere movies.
Premiering on Sunday, December 2nd at 7 pm ET is “Christmas Catch” starring Emily Alatalo, Franco Lo Presti and Yanic Truesdale.
About The Movie:
Detective Mackenzie Bennett loves Christmas. But her plans to spend the holidays with her family, friends – not to mention a handsome new stranger who just moved to town – are put on hold when the F.B.I. tells her that her gorgeous new friend is a suspect in a diamond heist. Now, under cover (and under tight supervision), Mack finds herself getting close to a man who might be a criminal, but who also might be the man of her dreams!
We had the opportunity to catch up with star Emily Alatalo and discuss her role, the best Christmas present she’s ever received and holiday traditions.
Kat: Was there anything about your role that was particularly challenging?
Emily: Yes! Most of the films I’ve done have been dramas or thrillers, so while it was refreshing and fun to play in such a wholesome environment, I did find it difficult to act/react accordingly. My instincts, it turns out, are a little R-Rated!
Kat: What was your favorite scene to shoot and why? (without giving away spoilers)
Emily: I honestly had so much fun shooting EVERY scene because it was the most efficient, positive and relaxed set I’ve ever been on. That being said, the opening scene of the movie was my favourite! I got to be really silly AND do a full-out undercover cop chase scene, all while wearing a hilarious elf costume. I had the biggest smile on my face all day.
Kat: Do you or your family have any special holiday traditions?
Emily: Not as many as when we were kids, but my Mama and I still wear matching Christmas PJs (last year we wore plaid reindeer onesies) and we play Steal-the-Gift which, traditionally, gets quite competitive! We open stockings with our parents (who always spoil us rotten, even though we’re adults) and we take Christmas-themed family photos with our handsome dog, Dexter.
Kat: What is the best Christmas present you’ve ever received?
Emily: I remember one year I got a Furby, when they were VERY COOL and difficult to acquire… that’s the first one that comes to mind, but as corny as this sounds, the best present is being with my family and friends. We don’t get to see each other often and it really means the world to me to have that time with them.
Kat: What do you hope fans take away from the movie?
Emily: I hope it makes people smile and lifts their spirits. It’s okay to be silly and have fun and not take life so seriously. Love and magic is all around us!
