Fairmont Hotels & Resorts global launch of Fairmont Loves Film at Fairmont Royal York featured a series of pop-up events, retrospective photo exhibits and other surprises, during the 43rd annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Fairmont has appointed film director and screenwriter, Gia Coppola, Fairmont Loves Film’s Ambassador and Curator. To celebrate its launch, another young artist, Cuba Tornado Scott, has created a short film exploring Fairmont’s historic connections to the world of cinema and the brand, which will premiere in Toronto at Fairmont Royal York.

Fairmont Loves Film is a celebration of the brand’s storied history with cinema and Fairmont hotels serving as the backdrop to many iconic movies, such as The Great Gatsby (1971 and 2013), Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Sleepless in Seattle, and many more.

Below is a list of Fairmont Loves Film events that happened at Fairmont Royal York  between September 6 and 15, 2018 during TIFF. (click to enlarge photos)

Carraway’s, a Gatsby Speakeasy Pop-Up Bar

We were transported back in time and enjoyed cocktails in their limited time only Gatsby inspired speakeasy pop-up bar. Toronto’s hidden gem, York Station bar, was resurrected and transformed into a 1920’s speakeasy-themed bar inspired by Gatsby. A series of Gatsby-inspired drinks was served, including the Gin Daisy, Jay “Julep” Gatsby, and the Prohibition Mule.

Movie Photo Worthy Moments

Inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, guests were encouraged to step into her shoes with a special photo op.  Guests also had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a movie moment inspired by the thrilling motion picture, Molly’s Game, which was filmed at Fairmont Royal York.

Interior & Exterior Exhibitions

Fairmont Royal York also featured interactive windows, on the Front Street entrance, and ten window displays showcasing films with a Fairmont connection, including Bride Wars, Molly’s Game and Mrs. Doubtfire. A visual timeline was also displayed to demonstrate Fairmont’s long history and love story with film.
