The Broadview Hotel in Toronto’s east end has a long, historic and interesting past. Originally built in 1891 it has been beautifully restored as a 58-room boutique hotel with bars, cafes and event spaces.

On our visit we checked out the 7th floor Rooftop Bar, which offers amazing views of the city and the Toronto skyline (CN Tower included). It features both indoor and outdoor seating and is the perfect spot for those magic hour cocktails or an intimate date night.

Off the Rooftop menu we tried the Tropic Like It’s Hot cocktail ($13) and Profiteroles with Orange creamsicle filling ($9)

After, we headed downstairs to check out the Cafe+Bar, a casual, bright, elegant space perfect for brunches, coffee and cocktails.

We tried the Strawberry Shortcake-vanilla Genoise cake, macerated Ontario strawberries, brandy whipped cream, strawberry gelée ($10)

We also had my personal favorite (which I could easily eat multiple times over) the S’more Napoleon — Chocolate ganache, toasted marshmallow cream, graham cracker crisp ($10)

We didn’t have the opportunity to check out the guestrooms or dinner service, but it’s on our list for next time!
