LA alt/rock duo, Plastic Rhino recently released their single “TAKEITALL“, telling a true story of love and obsession. “TAKEITALL” pushes musical boundaries by blending dubstep and EDM elements with Plastic Rhino’s edgy, industrial hard rock sound, creating a hybrid single that marks a bold new direction for the duo.
Originating out of love in 2013, Atara Glazer (vocals) and Jack Glazer (guitar, bass, producer) formed Plastic Rhino through their shared passion for Alternative Hard Rock music and a deep love for each other. The duo has been crafting bold, genre-defying music ever since. Known for their fearless approach to sound, no two songs are alike, yet each one speaks to universal themes—love, betrayal, empowerment, women’s rights, the freedom to speak out, and the allure of horror. With every release, Plastic Rhino pushes the boundaries of music, inviting listeners into a world where raw emotion and sonic experimentation collide.
Sonically, “TAKEITALL” pushes musical boundaries by blending dubstep and EDM elements with Plastic Rhino’s edgy, industrial hard rock sound, creating a hybrid single that marks a bold new direction for the duo. Recorded at Elite Recordings Los Angeles with producer Tom Chandler, as well as additional producing from Ron Geffen, the single is reminiscent of Bad Omens, Poppy, and Bring Me The Horizon.
Plastic Rhino has earned widespread recognition for their distinctive sound, being featured in notable publications such as LA Weekly, Earmilk, Wonderland Magazine, and Hollywood Life Magazine. Their music has received global radio play, including spins on Sirius XM’s ‘Little Steven’s Garage,’ and they were nominated for Best Metal/Rock Song at the 2023 HIMA Awards for their track “Another Try.” Additionally, their music has been featured on numerous Spotify, Apple, and Amazon editorial playlists, while their music videos have garnered awards and been showcased in various film festivals.

I had the opportunity to chat with Atara Glazer of Plastic Rhino about the duo’s single “TAKEITALL”, their musical journey so far, and what’s next.
Kat: “TAKEITALL” blends dubstep and EDM with your signature hard rock sound — what inspired you to take such a bold stylistic turn with this track?
Atara: We felt the hard rock scene was already heading in this direction, so we got right on it with this song. Instead of just adding small EDM elements, we jumped right into the deep end and went full let’s do a dubstep drop at the end of the song and see if it works, and it did!
Kat: The story behind the song is intense—obsession, stalking, and love turned dangerous. Is this based on a personal experience or someone else’s story that deeply resonated with you?
Atara: Yes this song is based off a true story, and it happened to our producer. I brought him the song outline idea- I didn’t have lyrics yet, and he was going through it with his ex. The stories he was telling me were not good. I was worried for his safety. So I wrote a song about it. He actually liked the idea, and it fit the song’s mood. So it all worked out! And he was able to get away from his ex so that’s also good.
Kat: The Jazzercise-themed music video is such an unexpected but brilliant contrast to the dark lyrical content. How did that concept come together, and what was the filming process like?
Atara: Our other Producer and usual music video collab partner Ron Geffen realized the BPM of the song matched up perfectly with the old 80’s Jazzercise competition videos. He came up with this funny idea to do a Jazzercise class, and then we just kept spit balling ridiculous ideas of how it shouldn’t just be a typical class, it should be a little different. Every time we make a music video, we have the best time! Since I work in the Film Industry- I know exactly what is needed to get a video done. Ron brings all the equipment, we find a location, grab some friends, and have a party on set.
Kat: As a real-life couple and creative duo, how do you balance personal and professional dynamics, especially when tackling emotionally charged material like “TAKEITALL”?
Atara: We’ve been together so long, and our relationship started with being in a band from the start, so our lives pretty much revolve around music, and if there’s any free time we go hang as a couple. We usually do social stuff around music anyway, so no matter what music is always there in one way or another. I write a lot of my material on relationship dynamics, and I use our relationship as subject matter for sure. I don’t think Jack minds, or quite understands the deeper meanings I am referring to in my lyrics sometimes, but our relationship is so strong and healthy, I will use previous relationships I’ve had as subject matter if I need some drama in my lyrics.
Kat: You’ve cited themes like women’s rights and horror in your past work. How do you decide which messages or moods to channel in each release?
Atara: I always have this fight or flight mentality- me against the world, I think most women do. Especially women who always have to defend why they are where they are. As a female in Rock- this fight has always been there. Getting enough respect from a male dominated music genre, it’s been an uphill battle for sure. It’s great to see in 2025 so many women rockers and metal-heads now. My subject matter always comes from this place of having to prove myself in one way or another. The Horror twists I put in my songs are just cause I love horror movies, and I love creating images of horror themes mixed with other themes. I think it adds an extra punch to the lyrics when you graphically describe something else entirely in a horror script concept.
Kat: Plastic Rhino has never shied away from genre experimentation. How do you keep evolving without losing the essence of your sound?
Atara: I’d like to thank my ADHD for that and the fact that I fall in love with new bands all the time. I can’t listen to the same music forever. I’m always looking for the new band to inspire me with the new sound. As much as it’s great to create your band sound and stick with it, I would get so bored. I am bored lol- so hence always looking to create a different kind of sound in our new songs.
Kat: What was it like working with producers Tom Chandler and Ron Geffen on this track, and how did they help shape the song’s final direction?
Atara: We have been working with Tom since the beginning of our music journey. He’s amazing with taking an idea and creating a whole song mood around it. At this point we know exactly how we all work so it’s really easy in the studio. Ron is the studio tech king. He’s always upping his gear to be the best of the best in his studio, so you know you will be getting the most amazing sound out of your song in his studio. He polishes everything and rounds out the edges. He’s just incredible at making songs smooth like butter. It’s all about sounding like you recorded at a professional huge studio without actually doing that, and Ron’s studio is the magic that makes that happen.
Kat: You’ve been featured on major editorial playlists and nominated for awards — how do those milestones influence your creative process, if at all?
Atara: They honestly just push us to keep climbing, keep going. It’s great when it happens because you feel like you did something right, but it also pushes us to keep getting better and stronger at songwriting so it keeps happening for us. Can’t go backwards, only up.
Kat: With a sound often compared to acts like Bad Omens and Bring Me The Horizon, do you see yourselves fitting into that modern rock/metal scene, or forging a lane entirely your own?
Atara: Nothing would make us happier than playing a festival with those bands. As a band- you do want to create your own twist on the Rock genre , but also fit into the current Rock/Metal sound going on. We don’t need to be over achievers and be the pioneers of the next big thing, we just want new fans to like what we do and find comfort in a genre they already love to listen to.
Kat: Finally, what’s next for Plastic Rhino? Can fans expect a full-length project, more genre fusions, or maybe even more quirky visuals?
Atara: We just signed to Curtain Call Records, and really hope to be playing some cool events in the next year. We are also going to release a few more songs to complete this EP by the end of the the year. So follow us on our socials to stay up to date with all the cool new stuff coming soon!!
