As part of Winterlicious 2024, we visited Maison Selby, one of Toronto’s most elegant dining destinations set inside the beautifully restored historic C.H. Gooderham mansion. Known for its French-inspired cuisine and stunning interiors, Maison Selby offers a dining experience that feels both timeless and elevated, making it a standout choice for the city’s annual winter dining celebration.

(Back) Pineapple Mule

We began with two thoughtfully crafted non-alcoholic beverages. The Raspberry Pepper Mojito, which combined raspberry juice, raspberry pepper syrup, lime juice, fresh mint, and soda water for a refreshing drink with a subtle kick, and the Pineapple Mule, which featured ginger beer, pineapple juice, and lime, delivering a much needed tropical escape.
For starters, we enjoyed the Grapefruit & Goat Cheese Salad, served with fennel, Kalamata olives, toasted pine nuts, and a citrus vinaigrette. As well as the Marinated Mussel Salad, featuring frisée, saffron aïoli, on top of grilled sourdough.

Our mains were the highlights of Maison Selby’s Winterlicious menu. The Steak Frites showcased a bavette steak served with broccolini, crispy frites, and sauce persillade. We also tried the Crevette à la Marseillaise, featuring shrimp and spaghetti in a smoked paprika tomato sauce finished with crème fraîche.

To finish, dessert did not disappoint. The Dark Chocolate Tart with amarena cherries, graham cracker crust, and kirsch chantilly was delicious and indulgent, while the Apple Galette, made with spiced apple, apple butter, vanilla ice cream, and flaky puff pastry, was the perfect ending to our evening.

Our Winterlicious 2024 experience at Maison Selby was exceptional from start to finish. With beautifully presented dishes, thoughtfully crafted non-alcoholic beverages, and a stunning setting, it remains a must-visit for those looking to enjoy Toronto’s dining scene at its finest.
