With a powerful voice and six original songs, Mississauga country singer Alessia Cohle’s newest EP Wild Eyed Wanderer showcases an incredible talent. Each of the songs offer something different and incorporate hints of different genres, but still keep the heart and soul of country music.

The EP begins with an upbeat, jazzy number called “Wanderlust”. The intro includes a horn section, something we hear again in the fifth song, “That’s Right”. Track two, “Love Gone Right” continues the upbeat feeling. Instead of being jazzy, the song sounds sweet with a soft country twang.

Cohle also shows a more sensitive side with slower, more introspective songs. “Toxic” and “Always A Bridesmaid”, however, they sound quite different. “Toxic” incorporates both a horn section and a short guitar solo, giving it a rock-ballad feel. “Always A Bridesmaid”, on the other hand, takes on a more singer-songwriter style by incorporating a symbiotic relationship between a piano and Cohle’s lovely voice.

An absolute pleasure to listen to, Wild Eyed Wanderer can surely be enjoyed by a wide audience.
