TORONTO, ON – June 13, 2017 – What do whisky and skateboarding have in common? Well, on June 23rd the answer will be Rodney Mullen. Monkey Shoulder® Whisky has partnered with The Drake Hotel to bring the skateboarding legend to Toronto to hang, sip whisky cocktails, and talk skate, life and art alongside renowned visual artist, Shaun Gladwell.
Rodney Mullen is a veteran skateboarder, referred to by many as “The Godfather of Skating”. He earned this title through perseverance and innovation, inventing tricks such as the flat ground ollie, the kick flip, the heel flip, the 360 flip, and on, and on, and on… You get the idea, right?
Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Shaun Gladwell works predominantly in video arts, with a focus on movement and performance within the natural landscape. His primary interests range from street dance to extreme sports, and of course, skateboarding.
For one evening only, Mullen and Gladwell will discuss the intersection of art and skateboarding and answer questions in an intimate open forum, at one of the most iconic venues in Toronto, The Drake Hotel.
